Where to start a retreat center project
Before sketches and cost estimates, review the site, intended operation, and constraints. This brief helps assemble inputs for a useful first discussion. It does not replace surveys, professional design, or legal due diligence.

Six questions before design begins
What are we building, and for whom?
Describe the property type, capacity, seasonality, length of stay, and guest activities. Include staff and future operator needs.
What do we know about the site?
Collect location or cadastral details, land rights, area, terrain, access, existing buildings, and available records. A qualified legal and planning review matters before acquisition.
What constraints apply?
Check permitted use, protected and sanitary zones, access, water, power, drainage, and local procedures. A preliminary review is not a building permit.
How will the property operate?
Bring accommodation, food, activities, quiet spaces, technical rooms, maintenance, safety, and accessibility into one functional program. Operations shape architecture from the start.
How will decisions be made?
Identify the project owner, approvers, budget range, and stage approvals. Reliable cost and schedule estimates require verified inputs and a defined scope.
What is the first deliverable?
Start with an inventory of risks and missing inputs, followed by an agreed brief for investigations and concept work. Define the next stage separately.

An evidence-led pathway
- 01
Diagnostic
Review the objective, site, and documents; record unknowns and critical risks.
- 02
Site inputs
Engage qualified specialists for the necessary checks and surveys.
- 03
Concept
Agree the functional program, guest journey, and operational requirements.
- 04
Design and delivery
Define design disciplines, contractors, quality gates, and documented handover.
03 / 04
What to include in the first message
- A short description of the concept and expected capacity
- The site address or cadastral identifier, if selected
- Available plans, photos, and utility information
- Land status and known constraints
- A project contact and preferred written channel
If no site has been selected, describe the region, property type, and search criteria. Do not send personal documents through open forms unless needed.

Limits of a preliminary review
This page is general information. Buildability, permits, timing, cost, and responsibility must be established for the specific site and through agreements with qualified parties. Narayana Construction is an ecosystem initiative; the legal provider is defined for each project.
Start with the place and the objective
Use the initiative page form to describe your project in writing. The team will identify the inputs needed for an initial diagnostic.
